At home with Tanya & Simon

Just a short 8 months ago this home was non existent and Tanya and Simon were living in their condo in Little Italy.  Well technically Simon sold his condo to move into her condo in Little Italy!  They decided to purchase a home together shortly after getting engaged! They chose the beautiful and quiet St-Lazare. They bought into a development a short 5 minutes from the highway, but you feel as if you're in the middle of the country with all the mature trees and surrounding wildlife.  You can get more out here.  More square footage, more peace and quiet. And peaceful this home is!

The complete open concept is ideal for entertaining and hanging out, which this couple with no kids yet,  get to do.

There were a couple things that hit me as soon as I walked in.  All the light coming in from those large windows in the great room, the high ceilings and just how large the home feels.

From the corner of your eye you can see the beautiful creamy white kitchen off to the left through the dining room. For a home that's only 1600 square feet it is well laid out. This home is perfect for anyone really and would comfortably fit my happy brood of three. Hmmm.

There are many windows on the first floor which add to its openness.  Here the stove is flanked by two windows, instead of cluttering the space with extra storage.  There is a walk in pantry to the left (you can see the door frame), is anyone else drooling too?

The window above the sink overlooks the couple's closed in veranda.

The centre island is painted a deep grey that completely grounds the space.  With it's woven Pier 1 counter height chairs and grey veined granite countertops it's very inviting.

Amelia (Lori's daughter) enjoys an apple.

Tanya sews her own pillows and curtains.  Here she made the green and striped pillows, the flower one is from Crate & Barrel.

Love this coffee table from Structube with all the storage below.

To the right you can see the dining room. To the left is a hallway that brings you to the powder room outfitted with a bath, and further along are the three generous sized bedrooms.  One of Tanya's requests was to remove the washer/dryer from the powder room and bring it to the basement. This allowed them to put a tub/shower combo in the powder room making it another full bathroom. She also added a laundry shoot just off the hallway. She loves this feature.

Did I mention there was also an ensuite master bath with a huge glass shower?

All the tones in these two adjoining rooms are very soothing, perfect for master retreat.

It's really nice to have a bedroom with a lot of windows.  It means having to put less on your walls.

They have a cozy guest bedroom for overnighters! Simon's parents live in Africa and though they have a beautiful home in Bromont they love to stay with their kids as well! And who wouldn't in this b&b feeling bedroom?

Can you imagine how lovely it's going to look when all the landscaping is finished?  Thank you Tanya and Simon for letting me into your beautiful home!
