Baking is so satisfying, you can create something beautiful and delicious. They also have this magical power of making people (especially children) very happy. You could slave all day cooking a delicious meal, but the hero is the one who brings the unforgettable dessert. Am I right? I've made quite a few desserts (some delicious, some not quite so) but these below have been tested time and time again. To me, they are my classics. Happy Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin Streusel. Adapted from a Skinny Taste recipe with the added bonus of a sweet and juicy topping? Yum! Photo & recipe by the Collaboreat.

Pumpkin cheesecake? This light seasonally delicious cake will not disappoint! Image by My Baking Addiction, my favourite recipe by Chatelaine.

One bowl chocolate cake. This is the recipe I use all the time. Follow as directed but do add 1/2 cup of Hellman's Mayonnaise! Or sour cream, whatever you have on hand. So light & rich and stupid easy. It is a recipe the kids can do. While you watch! Finish with this frosting. Image from Martha Stewart recipe by All Recipes.

And finally Hummingbird Cake. I was introduced to this by Oprah (not personally, lol) on her show back in 2005. I still remember that episode of her then chef Art Smith. I don't know why I can't forget his name. I googled it to get this recipe for you, otherwise I've got it written down on a sheet somewhere! Of course, I didn't bake much back then but now this is a favourite of mine that is definitely a crowd pleaser. It is a bit like a carrot cake but 1000 times better and easier! I now have made it at least a dozen or so times. It always comes out delicious! Makes perfect cupcakes too. I do omit the nuts, however. And the best part? I eat it for breakfast if there are any leftovers!
There are a few recipes that I would love to try but still haven't got around to, like..
// 5 // This apple mosaic tart with salted caramel by Smitten Kitchen.
// 6 // This Skinny eggnog cake by Skinny Taste.
// 7 // This flourless chocolate cake looks killer by Jamie Oliver. His site is so inviting! Check out his christmas collection of recipes!
// 8 // And I have to try his chocolate candy cane cookies for the kids! They love baking and eating all the ingredients as we go so this one will definitely be a hit!
// 9 // I've made many apples pies, but this one from Grandma Ople on All Recipes looks to-die-for.
// 10 // And these are the best damn oatmeal cookies I ever ate/ made. Via Avery cooks. Chill your cookies before putting them in the oven! What a difference!!!
To my American Family & Friends, have a super wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
XOXO
B.
