Our holiday in a nutshell

We had a great time this holiday season, even with no beaches in sight!  We just had to keep busy and I only heard "I'm bored" twice. Not bad.

The countdown had begun but Christmas came so very quickly this year.

Hosting christmas eve this year once again was great. I made four dishes but everyone else brought something so I actually had time to "colour" and let loose my creative side.  It was a lot of fun-and relaxing.

We have a cross-country ski trail in our backyard. I drove, however, to Notre-Dame-de-Fatima with my sister, so the kids could try it out. It is really inexpensive and a whole lot of fun.

Brooklyn was doing an amazing job.  She wouldn't take any advice though. She's so tough on herself. I felt bad because she really kept saying how terrible she was at it. And it really was the opposite. But, she would not listen. She does want to do it again though:)

Charlize loved it.  We had to keep up with her. What else?

Lots of yummy baking! I love making apple crumble pies. Super easy too. Buy an already made crust (I like the pillsbury one).  Mix 10 cut up apples with a squeeze of lemon juice, 1/2 cup brown or white sugar, 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 3 tbsp of cornstarch.  Pour into crust. In another bowl mix 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 tbsp of cinnamon and 1/2  cup flour until it resembles a coarse but very moist mixture (I put on disposable gloves and hand mix). Bake at 375 for 40 minutes. Yum.

These two foxes hung around our backyard since the new year! One slept for three hours by our trail. They are so nice to see. And I think our new kitten will be an indoor one!

She's our latest addition to the family. Claudia pronounced Clowdia.  She's half persian half himalayan.  Brooklyn treats her like a baby and carries her around the house constantly. She also takes the initiative to change her water, wash the bowl and fill her food dish. I think it's really good for her.

Hazy sun days were my favourite. So cosy and peaceful.

Snapseed is an awesome photo editing app I also discovered this holiday season. Take that photoshop!

I am such a chicken. I only go because I can't say no to this cutie. I'm pretty sure that's a terrified face I'm making.

I can honestly say I do not want winter to end.  I hope it is really long, like up until the first of April. Then within a week all the snow melt. A girl can only hope :)
