Designing in black & white

It may seem easy to design in black and white. And though it's a pretty straight-forward scheme it must be done right. It must be layered proportionately and it must have a few striking elements, like maybe a gold picture frame or two.  Your eye must be able to dart around a room and take it all in slowly- as opposed to just seeing black and white. Texture is another important element in any room but especially one that has limited colour.

Some nice examples from around the web...

The black & white canvas on the wall has just got me!

What's black & white without a zebra rug!

Lucite coffee table perfect example of layering another material to the scheme.

This room was featured on house & home many years ago- I still love it. Gold is a must!

Scandinavian + black&white = love

This is probably my favourite. The lamps and the windows are gorgeous. As are those pillows!

Which is your favourite?
